Costs for International Cadets
Before an international cadet is enrolled at the Academy, the sponsoring country must agree to reimburse the U.S. Coast Guard for the cost of instruction. The cost of instruction for cadets is $71,349 per year. Countries not listed on the World Bank List would be eligible for partial tuition costs of $16,300 annually. This cost is reviewed and revised on an annual basis. In addition to the cost of instruction, all incoming cadets are required to pay an initial deposit of $3,000. This deposit helps offset the cost of a laptop computer, uniforms, and other issued items.

Requests for waivers will be considered on a case by case basis and must be submitted with the application/nomination package.

Furthermore, each country must bear all the costs associated with the student’s travel to and from the Coast Guard Academy including the shipment of any personal items.
