Social Network Training

So what, I'm smart, I keep my data private

User Applications on Social Networking Sites and Unauthorized and/or malicious softear programs

There are many third party applications on the SNS servers that users can add to their profile such as sharing music, and playing video games. These applications may have capabilities that increase the likelihood of a user unwittingly disclosing personal information. When an individual installs an application, it typically allows the developer to see private information from the installer's profile.

People using Social Networking Sites can be duped into going to third party sites to download applications. Once at these sites the SNS no longer controls what may be downloaded to your computer. The following 90 second video depicts this SNS threat.

Unknown Administration of Social Networking Sites:

Okay, so you're a smart cookie; perhaps you even consider yourself a 1337 hax0r. You don't make your information public. You verify the identities of your friends, you've configured the privacy settings of your favorite Social Networking Sites to limit the release of data - you're golden! Or maybe you're not...

Have you read the privacy policies of the Social Networking Sites you use on a daily basis?

The following clip illustrates how quickly your information can spread throughout the Internet by using a SNS.

Many times unwittingly our information can be mined through malicious applications. The following video clip shows how third party quizes developed for Social Networking Sites can gather your information without you even knowing it.
