ADMISSIONS
Questions and Preparation
The interview may be your first opportunity to meet with a Coast Guard Academy representative. Since we commission our graduates as officers in the Coast Guard, this interview is not just for college, but for your first professional position. Take some time to make this first impression a great one.

Appearance
Cadets and Coast Guard officers take pride in their appearance, and we like to see that same pride in our candidates. Consider wearing casual business attire and style your hair neatly.

Timeliness
We have a saying in the Coast Guard: If you're early, you're on time; if you're on time, you're late; and if you're late…well, you'll learn about that if you come to the Academy. Timeliness shows that you are organized and serious about the Academy. Arrive early to the interview and take time to relax, collect your thoughts, and get used to the surroundings.

Topics
Be prepared to talk about yourself and to ask informed questions about the Academy. The interviewer may discuss a number of topics including, but not limited to, your interest in the Academy and in the Coast Guard, your aspirations for college and the future, and your level of preparation for the Academy experience. Think about these topics before the interview so you can lead the discussion. Remember that there are no right or wrong answers.
