Natural Resources field hearing slated

Two subcommittees of the House Natural Resources Committee will conduct a joint field hearing this month in Montrose to study infestation of pine beetles and water-supply and electrical-transmission difficulties. The hearing on May 14, sought by U.S. Reps. Scott Tipton and Mike Coffman, both Colorado Republicans, is entitled “Logs in the Road: Eliminating Federal Red Tape and Excessive Litigation to Create Healthy Forests, Jobs and Abundant Water and Power Supplies.”

Upgrade for Chimney Rock clears panel, advances to House floor

A multifaceted approach to make Chimney Rock a national monument, cleared a committee hearing Wednesday in the U.S. House of Representatives. U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, introduced his legislation last year. It went before the Natural Resources Committee and passed the markup process with a unanimous vote. The next step for the bill is to be presented to the House floor.
