Lieutenant Jeremy Montes is originally from Trenton, New Jersey. He reported to the United States Coast Guard Academy in July 2001 and graduated with honors with a degree in Marine and Environmental Sciences in May 2005. Upon graduating, he reported as a Deck Watch Officer on board USCGC Campbell (WMEC 909), home-ported in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. From June 2005 to April 2007, LT Montes served as Campbell’s Weapons Officer and Command, Control and Communications Officer conducting fisheries law enforcement off the East Coast of the United States and counter-drug and alien migrant interception operations in the Caribbean Sea.  

Following his tour on Campbell, LT Montes served from April 2007 to April 2008 as the Operations Officer on board USCGC Aquidneck (WPB 1309), a 110-foot patrol boat forward deployed to the Arabian Gulf to conduct maritime security operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. LT Montes then served as the Commanding Officer of the CGC Chinook from May 2008 to July 2010.
