USFK PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER

Colonel Amy E. Hannah, UNC/CFC/USFK Public Affairs Officer

Colonel Amy E. Hannah assumed duties as the Public Affairs Officer for the United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command and United States Forces Korea on June 20, 2012. 

Colonel Hannah is a native of Findlay, Ohio.  She earned her bachelor's degree in Arts and Sciences from The Ohio State University and was commissioned through ROTC as an Adjutant's General Corps Officer on June 14, 1991.  She earned a master's of arts degree in Public Communication from American University in 2000 and a master's of science degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 2010.

Colonel Hannah began her military career as an Platoon Leader, then XO in the 7th Personnel Services Company, 7th Infantry Division (Light) at Fort Ord, California from 1991 - 1993.  From 1993 - 1995, she commanded the HHD and B Detachments of the 9th Personnel Services Battalion, I Corps at Fort Lewis, Washington.  In 1995, she deployed in command of the 22nd Personnel Services Battalion Forward Area Support Team to Operation Sea Signal, JTF-160, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  From 1995 - 1997 she served in the 1st Personnel Group as the Deputy of Enlisted Strength Management and then as the S3 of the 1st Personnel Group, I Corps, Fort Lewis, Washington.  From 1998 - 1999, she served as the Adjutant of the 701st Military Police Group (CID) at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. 

After completing Advanced Civil Schooling at American University, a Training With Industry assignment at Ketchum Public Relations in Washington, DC, and the Public Affairs Officer Course at the Defense Information School in 2001, Colonel Hannah served as a PAO with specialties in  Weapons, Environment and Technology areas in the Media Relations Division, Army Public Affairs, Pentagon from 2001-2003.  During this assignment, she deployed with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2002.  From 2004-2006, she served as the 82nd Airborne Division PAO, deploying to Joint Task Force Katrina, New Orleans in 2005.  From 2006-2007, she served as the PAO to the Secretary of the Army at the Pentagon.  In 2007, Colonel Hannah served as the V Corps PAO in Heidelberg, Germany before deploying in 2008-2009 to serve as the Media Operations Director, Multi-National Force Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq.  Colonel Hannah returned to Washington, DC as the Strategic Communications Chief, Office of the Chief of Legislative Liaison, Pentagon.  Her most recent posting was as the Deputy in Media Relations Division, Army Public Affairs, Pentagon, before arriving to Korea. 

Her military education includes the Adjutant's General Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Public Affairs Officer's Course, Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Washington, DC.

Her awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal with two service stars, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
