How to Participate ›› Contribute Data ›› LANDFIRE Reference Data

LANDFIRE would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who has contributed data. LANDFIRE collects data annually and the data submission deadline is November 15 of each year. Data submitted before November 15 will be evaluated for inclusion into the appropriate LANDFIRE update cycle. Submissions after November 15th will be considered in subsequent updates.

LANDFIRE needs three types of data:

• Disturbance and treatment polygons for the Events geodatabase (priority)

Polygon data is added to the Event geodatabase, which informs LANDFIRE updates. Event polygons must:

• be disturbance or treatment polygons like those listed in the Category and Theme fields below
• have occurred in 2011 to be considered for the next round of LANDFIRE updates. More recent or older data will be archived for potential use in future updates or remaps. Learn how to submit Event polygons.

• Vegetation and Fuel plots for the LANDFIRE Reference Database (LFRDB)

  Plot data is added to the LFRDB. The LFRDB provides training data for the mapping process.

  • understand the issue(s)
  • develop systematic approaches for potential updates
  • evaluate efforts for improvement (if within scope of updates)
