The Arizona Game and Fish Department uses
a strategic plan to manage wildlife, outdoor
recreational opportunities and its own operations.
"Wildlife 2012" is the strategic
plan that will guide how the Department
approaches these issues over a six year
period, from 2007 to 2012.
The plan reflects
the management direction the Arizona Game
and Fish Commission has provided to the
Department, identifies the most important
issues, and explains how the Department
plans to deal with those issues.
"Wildlife
2012" provides strategic guidance for
all programs within the Department. It emphasizes
wildlife management, which is the Department's
primary focus, but also addresses off-highway
vehicle and watercraft recreation beyond
their impacts to wildlife resources, and
administration of the Department.
"Wildlife
2012" has a broad perspective. The
plan was developed to make it more accessible
to the public, believing that people are
more likely to get involved in the planning
process if the plan itself is user-frendly.
Programmatic approaches and day-to-day details
are described in separate and subsequent
operational and implementation plans
Following an extensive public input and
review process, the Arizona Game and Fish Commission approved
"Wildlife 2012" in public session
on December 9, 2006.
Now, Department program
managers are using the plan for outdoor recreation
efforts and to conserve and protect your
wildlife legacy.
A legacy held in trust
for your use and appreciation, and for use
and appreciation by future generations of
Arizonans and people who visit our state..
