    Published four times a year and circulated in more than 80 countries, the Community Development Journal provides an international forum for political, economic, and social programs that link the activities of people with institutions and government. Dealing with the theory and practice of the policies, programs, and methods employed, the Community Development Journal covers a wide range of topics, including community action; village, town, and regional planning; community studies; and rural development.

    HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) provides useful data products to housing researchers and policy analysts. This guide provides information on each of the data sets and is intended to help you identify data sets that can be a basis for your research or analysis.

  • Journal of Community Practice
    The Journal of Community Practice, sponsored by the Association for Community Organization and Social Administration, is an interdisciplinary journal designed to provide a forum for community practice, including community organizing, planning, social administration, organizational development, community development, and social change. The journal contributes to the development of knowledge related to numerous disciplines, including social work and the social sciences, urban planning, social and economic development, community organizing, policy analysis, urban and rural sociology, public administration, and nonprofit management.

  • Journal of Community Psychology
    The Journal of Community Psychology is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal devoted to research, evaluation, assessment, and intervention, and it reviews articles that deal with human behavior in community settings. Articles of interest include descriptions and evaluations of service programs and projects; studies of youth, parenting, and family development; methodology and design for work in the community; the interaction of groups in the larger community; and criminals and corrections.

  • Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement
    The Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement (JHEOE) serves as a forum to promote the continuing dialogue about the service and outreach mission of the University of Georgia and its relationship to the teaching and research missions and to the needs of the sponsoring society. Published two times per year (fall/winter, and spring/summer), JHEOE is a peer-reviewed journal that casts a wide net and welcomes submissions from a broad range of scholars, practitioners, and professionals.

The CUMU brings together universities that share the mission of striving for national excellence while contributing to the economic development, social health, and cultural vitality of the urban or metropolitan centers served.

    PolicyLink is a national nonprofit research, communications, capacity-building, and advocacy organization, dedicated to advancing policies to achieve economic and social equity based on the wisdom, voice, and experience of local constituencies.

  • Shelterforce Magazine
    Shelterforce is the Nation's oldest continually -published housing and community development magazine. For more than two decades, Shelterforce has been a primary forum for organizers, activists, and advocates in the affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization movements.

    Shelterforce is published by the National Housing Institute (NHI), an independent nonprofit organization that examines the issues causing the crisis in housing and community in America. These issues include poverty and racism, disinvestment and lack of employment, safety, education, and breakdown of the social fabric. NHI examines how these and other factors affect people as they try to build safe and viable neighborhoods. NHI has performed original research on such topics as saving subsidized housing, homelessness prevention, and creating jobs as a component of affordable housing construction.

  • The Evolving Role of Information Technology in Community Development Organizations
    This free publication, prepared by Seedco, details how community-based organizations are using information technology to carry out their work. The report, part of Seedco's Community Development Technology Initiative, is based on the findings of a survey of more than 300 organizations.

    To support decisionmaking that produces and sustains good results for children, families, and communities, The Finance Project develops and disseminates information, knowledge, tools, and technical assistance for improved policies, programs, and financing strategies.

  • The Journal of the Community Development Society
    The Journal of the Community Development Society is devoted to improving the knowledge and practice in the field of purposive community change. Its purpose is to disseminate information on theory, research, and practice. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts that report research; evaluate theory, techniques, and methods; examine community problems; or critically analyze the profession itself. The journal tries to meet the needs of both segments of community developers: those who are practicing it and those who want to advance the understanding of it through research and teaching.

  • The Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning
    The Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning (MJCSL) is a peer-reviewed journal consisting of articles written by faculty and service-learning educators on research, theory, pedagogy, and issues pertinent to the service-learning community.
