The Department of Defense (DoD) Business Transformation Agency's (BTA's) training initiative creates an e-learning environment that supports both managers and subject matter experts who work with DoD transformation and modernization programs. It serves to advance understanding of BTA's programs through one-stop access to high quality e-learning products, tools, and resources.
BTA's E-learning resources allow users to access learning opportunities that span systems, content, and performance support tools on BTA products and initiatives. BTA e-learning resources aim to:

  • Improve accessibility at a time, place, and pace most suited for users;
  • Enhance learning effectiveness through integrated practice scenarios and assessments;
  • Improve user performance to become productive more quickly;
  • Leverage the use of hyperlinks, exercises, peer comments, and feedback for efficient learning; and
  • Facilitate an effective learning experience by providing incremental delivery of content.

The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) lessons discuss the basic need for SOA, what SOA is and is not, and why it is beneficial for today's DoD.

The Semantic Web Course is composed of several lessons that discuss the Business Enterprise Common Vocabulary efforts and how they enable the DoD BMA's efforts to build Semantic Technology into the Business Enterprise Architecture. Lessons include information on Semantic Web Technology, the benefits of creating ontologies and how to build and publish them.

The Business Transformation Framework course provides an overview of the BTF and discussions about the End-to-End Business Flows, Applications, Data Management, Infrastructure and Methodologies used in support of business transformation. It will also explain how Performance Management ties it all together to increase efficiency, effectiveness and quality for our ultimate customers, the warfighters.

The Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) tutorial is designed for anyone who wishes to better understand what enterprise architecture is and how the Department of Defense uses it to describes the structure of the organization's processes, systems, personnel, strategy, and core goals.

This lesson on the Business Capability Lifecycle (BCL) is designed for Department of Defense Modernization Programs- Managers and Subject Matter Experts. It provides an introductory level overview of the BCL and describes each of the three BCL phases: business capability definition, investment management and execution.

The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems tutorial illustrates what ERP can do for the Department of Defense's business processes. For maximum educational benefit, a basic understanding of federal acquisition processes is recommended.

The Defense Logistics Management System (DLMS) course describes, among other things, the history of the Defense Logistics Standard Systems/Military Logistics Systems (DLSS/MILS) and the genesis of the DLMS.

The SFIS tutorialprovides an overview of SFIS, the common business language that supports information and data requirements for budgeting, financial accounting, cost and performance management, and external reporting across the DoD enterprise.
