Secretary of American Samoa
September 2008
Dear Citizen of American Samoa:
Thank you for your interest in joining a group of professionals who provide invaluable public services for our government, business, legal, and financial community.
The Notary Act of 2007 (Public Law 30-18 as amended by Public Law 30-82) becomes effective on October 29, 2008 and requires all notaries of American Samoa to complete a course and pass the exam on notary laws, procedures and ethics.
The American Samoa Notary Public Handbook contains the laws and procedures regarding notaries public in American Samoa and was compiled to prepare you for the notary public examination. As a notary you will also be provided with The Notary Public Code of Professional Responsibility as part of your required materials for the course. Once you receive your commission, you should always have both resources with you at all times to enable you to perform your duties with confidence. Both guides, as well as additional information, are available on the American Samoa Government website at www.americansamoa.gov.
Your role as notary public is to ensure the integrity of important transactions of commerce and government. On behalf of the people of American Samoa, I thank you for your interest in performing a very important public service for the territory.
Sincerely,
Faoa A. Sunia
Secretary of American Samoa
