The Austin Parks and Recreation Department offers a great variety of programs and services for people fifty years of age and older.

Activities include the opportunity to travel, to pursue old hobbies and to learn new ones, to socialize with friends, to meet new people, to increase knowledge, to become and stay physically fit, to supplement income, to contribute to the community and much more!

Traditional recreation activities are offered specifically for seniors at our 3 Senior Activity Centers. The 20 Recreation Centers and the Dougherty Art Center offer many programs that are offered for all adults including seniors.

Seniors may request door to door transportation to the appointments, shopping or to attend a program at a Senior Center; may participate in our congregate meals program which provides hot lunches for seniors at sites thoughout the city.

In addition, the Department operates the Old Bakery and Emporium a facility available for seniors to sell home made goods. A must site all visitors to Austin to shop and eat.

Invest in your future . . . support Senior Programs. Volunteers and contributions are our lifeline. If you are interested in working for and with senior adults, call 974-1462.
