  • Basic Term Life insurance,
  • Optional Term Life insurance,
  • Dependent Term Life insurance,

GBP employer

An employer whose employees are eligible for the GBP.

generic drug

Chemically equivalent copy of a brand-name drug. Generic drugs are pharmaceutically and therapeutically the same as brand-name drugs. Not all brand-name drugs have a generic equivalent.

Generic drugs are usually lower in cost than brand-name drugs.

grace period

The grace period (related to TexFlex) extends the time in which you can have eligible expenses before your remaining account balance is forfeited. The normal timeframe, called the plan year, runs for a 12-month period from September 1 through August 31. The grace period allows an additional 2 months and 15 days to incur claims (through November 15.)

graduate student

For GBP purposes, an individual who:

  • has completed a bachelor's degree and is studying for his or her masters or doctorate degree, and
  • is employed by the higher education institution at least 50% of the time.

A GBP-eligible graduate student is considered a part-time employee.
