Welcome to the Drugs and Medical Devices Group

The Drugs and Medical Devices Group is part of the Texas Department of State Health Services, Division for Regulatory Services, Environmental and Consumer Safety Section.

Our mission is to protect the citizens of Texas from adulterated, misbranded, and otherwise unsafe drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, indoor tanning practices, and tattoo and body piercing procedures. The Drugs and Medical Devices Group endeavors to perform this function through effective enforcement of Texas drug, medical device, tanning, tattoo, and body piercing laws and regulations. The focus of this group will be oversight and education of the regulated industries, as well as, informational services to the general public.
