What is the State PAC?

The State PAC provides advice to the Texas Education Agency on how to best help migrant families with MEP services. It meets three times a year in Austin and is conducted in a language all attendees can understand.

Resources

The State PAC reviewed and recommended the following resources to help district and Education Service Center MEP staff operate a migrant Parent Advisory Council in their local area.

Who is in the State PAC?

The State PAC is composed of 15 members, with a majority being parents of migrant students. The State PAC can also include local level professional MEP staff members who represent the interest of migrant families.

To be a State PAC member you must be nominated by a district (approved by the Superintendent) or by an Education Service Center (approved by the Executive Director). The Texas State MEP votes on the nominations and sends its recommendations to the Commissioner of Education for approval of a two-year term.

The Texas State MEP usually asks for State PAC nominations in the spring. If you would like to nominate someone, please use the following form.

Agendas and Minutes
