  • CBP:
  • - An internal Acquisition Strategy Review for Mobile Surveillance Systems (MSS) was conducted on August 20, 2009.
  • - (1) Issued RFPs on August 18, 2009 for Phase 1 of a two-phased solicitation for the six direct procurements of design/build contractor services for ARRA modernization projects at the following land ports of entry (LPOEs): Boundary, WA, Los Ebanos, TX, Morses Line, VT, Hamlin, ME, Del Bonita, MT, Cannon Corners, NY. (2) Closed the public comment period of the Draft Environmental Assessments for the following LPOEs on August 16, 2009: Sherwood, ND, Whitetail, MT, Frontier, WA. (3) Issued RFPs for emergent (critical) repairs at 41 CBP-owned land ports of entry along the northern and southern borders on August 19, 2009. These emergent repair projects will address identified health and safety issues as well as physical deterioration within the port facilities. (4) Issued Request for Quotes (RFQs) the Border Security Deployment Program (BSDP) installations at 17 LPOEs on August 21, 2009. BSDP installations will include upgrades to the LPOE's physical security suite.   • DHS MGMT - Conducted kick-off meeting for FEMA design, the initial task will be a validation of the FEMA Program of Requirements (POR). Also continued programming validation and pre-design analysis of scope, schedule and budget for the NOC and Collocation of Component Operations Centers design. GSA awarded an Area-wide contract for utility service to the campus with power Co-Generation that will provide up to 25% of the campus electrical need to Washington Gas. Conducted joint DHS-GSA Congressional Staff Tour.
  • ICE:
  • - Revised Independent Government Cost Estimate for Region 2 and 3 Project (P25) Equipment and Limited Services procurement to reflect the change from a fixed price contract to a hybrid of fixed price and time and materials contract
  • - Released Stimulus Wireless Kits solicitation on 8/18
  • - Released Stimulus Communications Hub Upgrade solicitation on 8/19
  • USCG:
  • - Solicitation posted for High Endurance Cutter Lube Oil Purifier equipment.
  • - CSX Transportation awarded the construction contract of Mobile Bridge project on August 20, 2009.
  • - Pre-construction meeting for Mobile Bridge was held on August 20, 2009 in Jacksonville, FL.
 Major Planned Actions:
  • CBP:
  • - (1) Plans to modify the current IAA with GSA for approximately $11.27 million to account for an additional design/build construction project at Maida, ND LPOE as early as the week of August 26, 2009. (2) Plans to award ten design/build contracts through an interagency agreement with USACE for modernization of CBP-owned ports as early as August 26, 2009. These ten ports include: Antelope Wells, NM, Walhalla, ND, Neche, ND, Hansboro, ND, Pinnacle Road, VT, Pittsburg, NH, Carbury, ND, Westhope, ND, Whitetail, MT, Sherwood, ND.
  • - Tactical Communications: - CBP is waiting for release of the Acquisition Decision Memorandum by DHS Chief Procurement Officer to the TACCOM Program Manager. Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII): - No new actions planned to report this week.
  • DHS MGMT - Abatement activities will be completed and demolition operations are scheduled to commence on August 28, 2009 for buildings in the USCG HQ site.
  • ICE:
  • - Evaluate vendor proposals for the Stimulus Wireless Communications Kits procurement
  • - Release Stimulus Region 2 and 3 P25 Equipment and Limited Services solicitation
  • - As necessary, continue to perform edits to procurement packages based on vendor questions and feedback from the ICE OAQ review process
  • - Continue technical analysis and procurement planning for the modernization of communications systems in the Boston and Denver Regions
