The CyberKnife Cancer Center at Brandon Regional Hospital gives doctors and patients a life-saving option for treating difficult tumors and lesions. CyberKnife radiation therapy is designed to treat cancer and other tumors anywhere in the body without invasive surgery.
How CyberKnife Works
The CyberKnife combines two advanced technologies: The CyberKnife System reduces harm to the patients sensitive organs thanks to a compact radiation delivery system mounted on a flexible robotic arm. This delivers a superior radiation dose to the tumor while avoiding healthy tissues. CyberKnife is the only radiation delivery system that follows the tumor as the patient moves and breathes during treatment. It uses a patented image-guided system similar to that used in cruise-missiles.
