BART is the fast, easy and inexpensive way to get to around from Oakland International Airport. The convenient AirBART shuttle travels between OAK and the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station every 10 minutes during the day. It takes 30 minutes or less to reach downtown San Francisco. AirBART buses are fully accessible, with wheelchair lifts and tie-ins.
Fares for AirBART are $3.00 for an adult, $1.00 for children (12 and under), seniors (65 and over) and persons with disabilities (with ID). AirBART fare is payable in cash (exact change only) or a $3.00 BART ticket from a regular BART ticket machine (bus fare boxes will not return BART tickets with more than $3.00 in value).
U.S. residents can also purchase the "BART Travel Pack" for AirBART online with two $3 BART tickets for AirBART and a BART ticket to ride BART to downtown San Francisco and back from the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART station. For additional travel, you can easily add value to your ticket at numerous in-station machines, so you can use the BART ticket throughout the system by adding fare value if necessary.

The AirBART shuttle trip takes approximately 15 minutes. It stops in front of the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station on San Leandro Blvd. and in front of Terminal 1 and 2 (Southwest Airlines).
To/from Downtown Oakland
Take a 12-minute ride on the Richmond train to the City Center/12th Street Station and you'll be right in downtown a few blocks from Oakland Chinatown and Jack London Square. To return to OAK, take a Fremont train to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station, then board the AirBART shuttle.
To/from Downtown San Francisco
If you're going to San Francisco, board a San Francisco/Daly City bound train. BART stops at four downtown San Francisco stations that are an easy walk or short cab ride to most San Francisco hotels. BART shares these stations with San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (MUNI) which can also take you throughout the City.
- Embarcadero (1st SF stop) - Lower Financial District, Hyatt Regency and taxis to Fisherman's Wharf hotels. Use the Drumm Street exit for the Hyatt Embarcadero and you’ll be right at the Hyatt’s front door.
- Montgomery Street (2nd SF stop) - Financial District and Moscone North/South. Use the Market/3rd Street exit for Moscone Center, W Hotel, Westin, The Palace and Financial District and South of Market (SOMA) hotels.
- Powell/4th Street (3rd SF stop) - Use the Hallidie Plaza exit for the Intercontinental, Parc 55, Hilton, Nikko and Union Square hotels. Use the 4th Street exit for the Marriott and Moscone West.
- Civic Center (4th SF stop) - exit for Upper Market, Van Ness, the Castro and Civic Center districts. Take the Market/7th Street exit for the Renoir Hotel.
Getting back to Oakland International Airport
To return to OAK, take a Fremont or Dublin/Pleasanton train to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station (the 4th stop after traveling through the tunnel under the bay) then board the AirBART shuttle.
BART Tickets
Children 4 and under ride free. Everyone else must have a BART ticket. BART tickets are like debit cards with stored value. All BART stations have automatic ticket vending machines that accept nickels, dimes, quarters and $1 coins, as well as $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. You can also use a credit card in select machines. BART's fare structure is built on a mileage-based formula therefore weekly or monthly passes are not available.
When you enter BART, insert your ticket into the fare gate and it will be returned to you. Use the same ticket when you exit. The correct fare will be automatically deducted and tickets with remaining value will be returned. If your ticket has too little value, a sign on the fare gate will read "Underpaid: Go to Addfare." A nearby Addfare vending machine will tell you how much additional fare you must add to your ticket to exit the BART system.

BART has one of the highest on-time performance records in the nation, but to be prudent you should give yourself a little extra time in case you miss a transfer or an unanticipated delay occurs. Luggage
Please keep the aisles clear by storing your luggage under your seat or holding it on your lap. Some cars have space cleared by the doors to accommodate wheelchairs, bikes or strollers. If the space is not being used by a person with a disability, you may store your luggage there, but please keep it within your control at all times.
Accessibility
All BART stations are accessible to persons with disabilities. Elevators and fare gates designated for persons with disabilities may also be used by airline passengers with luggage.
