Puducherry Excels at “Know the U.S.” Quiz

July 17: Twenty-two high schools from Puducherry showed how much they “know the U.S.” at the “Know the U.S.” quiz contest organized by the U.S. Consulate and Indo-American Chamber of Commerce in Puducherry on July 17. The quiz focused on the students’ general knowledge about American history, geography, society, personalities, elections, government, culture and current affairs. Acting Public Affairs Officer Ragini Gupta put the students through several paces – written, oral, visual and rapid fire - as quiz master. The rapid fire round determined the winners with the girl’s team from St. Patrick Matriculation Higher Secondary School coming in first place, St. Joseph of Cluny Girls Higher Secondary School bagging the second prize and Cauvery Public School, the third. Mr. Sundaravadivelu, Director of School Education, Government of Puducherry commended the students for their excellent performance and distributed the trophies to the winning schools. Ms. Gupta honored the three winning teams with iPods, pen drives, Titan watches, dictionaries and certificates. All the students who participated in the quiz were presented with certificates and dictionaries. About 70 students, parents and teachers of various schools enthusiastically watched the event and answered questions if the teams on stage could not.
