- The Department of Defense (DoD) obligated $116.4M during the week ending August 7, 2009, bringing the cumulative obligation of Recovery Act funds to $1,841.6M. This includes $1,581.8M for the Facilities Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (FSRM) program, $163.5M for the Military Construction Program, $4.2M for the Energy Conservation Investment Program (ECIP), $87.9M for the Near Term Energy-Efficient Technologies Program, and $4.2M for the Expanded Homeowners Assistance Program (HAP). These obligations represent 25% of all DoD Recovery Act Funds received and reflect over 1,500 contracts to non-Federal vendors. Over 78% of contracts awarded were to small businesses (59% of contract dollars).
- The Facilities Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (FSRM) Program obligated $97.6M during the past week, for a total of $1,581.8M to date. Obligations for FSRM projects by Service this week were $56.4M by the Army, $37.3M by the Air Force, $3.5M by the Navy, and $0.4M for Defense-Wide appropriations.
- The $56.4M increase of Army FSRM obligations included $4.9M in obligations for building repairs (e.g. roof and doors) and Telemetry System replacement at Fort Drum, NY; $2.5M for HVAC replacement at Fort Lee, VA; and $1.8M for repair of HVAC, doors, and windows for Administrative Facilities at Fort Campbell, KY.
- The $37.3M increase of Air Force FSRM obligations included $5.9M in barracks and pavements projects at Tinker Air Force Base (AFB), OK; $3.6M for energy and facility projects at Vandenberg AFB, CA; $3.2M for roofing projects at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ; $2.5M in pavements projects at Minot AFB, ND; $2.0M for energy, pavements, and roofing projects at Eielson AFB, AK; $1.8M in facility projects at Pope AFB, NC; and $1.5M for energy and family housing projects at Ellsworth AFB, SD.
- The Military Construction (MILCON) Program obligated $17.1M this week, bringing the cumulative obligation for Recovery Act funded MILCON to $163.5M. Obligations for MILCON projects by Service this week were $9.6M by the Navy for a child development center at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Hawaii and $7.5M by the Air Force (Air National Guard) at Andrews AFB, MD.
