 Major Actions Taken to Date:
  • Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC issued authority to proceed for all 15 roof and loggia repair projects in Work Package 1. JSC also awarded an 8(a) contract to repair other building damage.
  • Exploration Mission Directorate: Synopsis released for the Commercial Crew Development project.
  • Science Mission Directorate, Earth Science Research: Synopsis released for Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences. Additionally, the NASA Management Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) awarded the Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer next generation (AVIRISng) task order.
  • Aeronautics Mission Directorate: Hosted a Fundamental Aeronautics NASA Research pre-solicitation workshop on August 7 in Cleveland, Ohio, for the "Subsonic Fixed Wing N+2 Advanced Low NOx Combustor Technologies".
  • NASA/NOAA MOU: Awarded the climate change monitoring instrument: Cloud and Earth Radiant Energy System Flight Model 6 (CERES FM-6)
 Major Planned Actions:
  • NASA intends to continue soliciting for Science, Exploration, and Aeronautics contracts and grant proposals in accordance with applicable Program Plans, and then start work on projects in accordance with Recovery Act provisions.
  • Cross-Agency Support for Hurricane Damage Repair Projects at the Johnson Space Center (JSC): JSC intends to issue Work Package 2 authority to proceed and multiple 8(a) sole-source contracts for additional repairs projects in August.
  • Science Mission Directorate: Reviewing the JPL task plan for GlobalHawk for planned release in August. Additionally, several awards are planned in August for: Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite II (ICESAT-2), Glory, the Global Precipitation Mission (GPM) and the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM).
