Report Date: 2009-08-07View History

 Financial Status:
  • Total Available: $41,890,596,312
  • Total Paid Out: $26,649,760,902
 Major Actions Taken to Date:
  • Cumulative Recovery Act Medicaid FMAP State draw downs totaled about $26 billion, as of Aug. 7.
  • Secretary Sebelius announced Aug. 3 that authority for the administration and enforcement of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Security Rule has been delegated to the Office for Civil Rights. OCR also has been responsible for enforcement of the Privacy Rule. ARRA mandated improved enforcement of the Privacy and Security Rules. OCR's administration and enforcement of the Security Rule, which previously had been delegated to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, will eliminate duplication and increase efficiencies in how HHS ensures that health information privacy is protected.
