 Major Actions Taken to Date:
  • Office of Justice Programs (OJP) 15_0402:
    1) OJP surpassed the $2 Billion mark in ARRA awards.
    2) OJP made 273 local JAG awards totaling $57,405,460.

  • Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) 15_0411:
    1) OVW announced nine (9) Transitional Housing awards totaling $4,159,839. Six (6) awards went to California; three (3) awards went to New York.
    2) OVW continues to process Recovery Act awards.
  • Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) 15_0412:
    1) COPS Staff participated in a press event with Associate Attorney General Perrelli, DC Mayor Fenty and Chief Lanier to announce the city's CHRP award for 50 new officers.
    2) The majority of the award packages for CHRP grantees were mailed this week.
    3) COPS staff continue working with stakeholder groups to further explain the CHRP award methodology.
    4) COPS Staff met with the National Sheriffs' Association to discuss their concerns regarding the CHRP methodology and awards made to Sheriffs Departments.
    5) COPS staff drafted a response letter to the NYC delegation regarding the City's CHRP application.
    6) COPS staff continue to field calls from law enforcement and congressional offices regarding the CHRP methodology and why a particular agency wasn't funded.
    7) COPS Staff met with the Mayor of Phoenix to discuss their CHRP application.
    8) COPS Staff sent a follow up letter to the Executive Director of the National Sheriffs' Association regarding their concerns with the CHRP award methodology.

  • Office of Justice Programs (OJP) 15_0402:
    Staff will be providing training on ARRA reporting requirements at the Interdepartmental Tribal Justice, Safety, and Wellness Government-to-Government Consultation, Training & Technical Assistance in Tulsa, Oklahoma and at the National Criminal Justice Association conference in Bellevue, WA.

  • Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) 15_0411:
    1) OVW will continue to process Recovery Act awards.
  • Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) 15_0412:
    1) COPS is finalizing the online grant modification process for CHRP grantees.
    2) COPS Legal Division will be providing training to COPS Office Audit Liaison Division, Grants Administration Division and Grant Monitoring Division on the nonsupplanting requirement of the COPS statute as it relates to CHRP awards.
