Jersey Agri-Tourism Events and Attractions
Princeton University students, faculty and staff, as well as local
residents
visit
the Greening Princeton Farmers Market, an entirely student-run
market that will operate this spring through May 20.
Agricultural
tourism, or agri-tourism
in New Jersey offers affordable, family-oriented recreational and educational
activities and opportunities to learn about the production of food and
agricultural products and the state’s rich farming heritage while
helping to encourage the preservation of agricultural lands.
Activities
include hayrides, corn mazes, pick-your-own operations, farm stands,
school tours, agricultural fairs, farm festivals, winery tours and horseback
riding. There also are several historical attractions where visitors
can learn about New Jersey agriculture from the beginning. You don't
have to live on a farm to enjoy New Jersey agriculture! Come out for
the day. There's always plenty to do!

Fosterfields
Living Historical Farm, Morristown, NJ
Fosterfields is a 200-acre
working farm which replicates daily activities of the farming and domestic
life from the 1880s through the turn of the century. Events include
baby farm animal weekend, haying demonstrations, threshing, sheep dog
trials, cider pressing and corn husking. For more information, call

Cold Spring Village, Cape May, NJ
This 1800s open-air living
history museum has incorporated agricultural themes into their calendar

Holcombe-Jimison
Farmstead Museum, Lambertville, NJ
Located on about 10 acres of land, the museum
is an educational institution, restored, maintained and staffed by volunteers.
It features the oldest remaining stone house in Hunterdon County and
many outbuildings. Museum-barn displays include early farming and homemaking

Howell
Living History Farm, Titusville, NJ
Howell Farm reflects farming practices circa
1900 and welcomes school groups and parents with young children. Programs
include sheep sheering, maple sugaring, potato planting, hayrides, haying

Longstreet
Living History Farm, Holmdel Township, NJ
Rural Monmouth County in the 1890s has been recreated at Longstreet
Farm where costumed interpreters plow, plant, cook and clean just as

New Jersey Agri-Tourism Industry Advisory Council -- The
Council is charged with researching current and potential agri-tourism
opportunities and making recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture
on ways to expand and promote agri-tourism in New Jersey. It consists
of five at-large agri-tourism operators; five designated members from
the New Jersey Wine Industry, New Jersey Agricultural Fairs Association,
New Jersey Equine Industry Advisory Council, New Jersey Direct Marketing
Association, and New Jersey agricultural museums/living history farms;
and four ex-officio members: the New Jersey Department of Agriculture,
New Jersey Farm Bureau, Rutgers University, and the New Jersey Commerce
