Geospatial technology enables work in support of the Department and agency missions, including all of USDA’s conservation, farming, animal and plant health, rural development, property management, and homeland security elements of the strategic plan. By participating in the coordinated development, use, sharing, and dissemination of geospatial data, agencies will have access to a greater amount of data from government, businesses, academia, and individuals. The Green Information Technology
(IT) Strategic Plan
The Green Information Technology Strategic Plan is important to the continued preservation of our natural resources and reduction of harmful toxins released into the environment. It is our intention at USDA to be the government-wide forerunner in setting the standard for Green IT practices. This plan outlines success measures, metrics, and examples of sustainable techniques and technologies that any public or private organization can utilize in establishing its own environmental improvement program.

The American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) was signed into law by President Obama on February 17th, 2009. It is an unprecedented effort to jumpstart our economy, create or save millions of jobs, and put a down payment on addressing long-neglected challenges so our country can thrive in the 21st century. The Act is an extraordinary response to a crisis unlike any since the Great Depression, and includes measures to modernize our nation's infrastructure, enhance energy independence, expand educational opportunities, preserve and improve affordable health care, provide tax relief, and protect those in greatest need. Visit the USDA ARRA page.
