Membership Frequently Asked Questions

What is my Member ID number?
Click on http://resources.ipma-hr.org/portaltools/RequestReminder.cfm to request your Member ID number be emailed to you or contact the Membership Department at membership@ipma-hr.org or call us at 703-549-7100.

How do I access members-only content on the website?
To access the members-only areas, please login at the top of the home page www.ipma-hr.org. If you are a new user, your Login Name is your Member ID number and Password is the first three letters of your last name plus your eight-digit Member ID number, where the first letter of your last name is capitalized. If you have changed your original login name and password but don’t remember it, request your new login name and password at membership@ipma-hr.org.

How do I access the E-Directory?
Active members may access IPMA-HR's E-Directory by logging in at the top of the home page. If you are new user, please review the “How to access members-only content on the website” instructions.

Can I request a new Member Card?
Yes! Just contact the Membership Department at membership@ipma-hr.org. To be sure that a new card will be sent to your current address, please review your current personal profile and addresses by logging in at the top of the home page and click on “Update Your Info”.

How do I join IPMA-HR's listservs?
IPMA-HR's listservs are a member benefit. To join, make sure you are logged into the site (please see instructions on how to access members-only content on the website) and visit the listservs page to get more information on the lists that IPMA-HR maintains and to join.

What if my organization paid for my Individual membership? Will my membership transfer with me when I start a new job?
Yes, you will maintain your Individual membership when you start a new job because an Individual membership cannot be transferred to another individual, so you will keep the membership. Please remember to update your contact information by logging on to our website www.ipma-hr.org or contact us at membership@ipma-hr.org.

My organization has an Agency membership and I am one of the covered staff members. Will I keep my membership after I change my employer?
No. An organization that paid for an Agency membership has the right to cancel your membership at anytime and add a new staff member, and a new Member ID number will be assigned to the new member. Your Member ID will stay the same so you can login to our website at the top of our homepage and apply for a new Individual membership or download an application http://www.ipma-hr.org/files/mem_app.pdf and send it to IPMA-HR.

What is IPMA-HR membership cancellation policy?
Your membership will be canceled upon receiving a written request.

What is the difference between Individual and Online membership?
An Online member will only have online access to the IPMA-HR benefits, and will not receive a hard copy of publications or Member card. Visit our website for membership categories http://www.ipma-hr.org/content.cfm?pageid=181.

I am a part-time student and currently work in the HR field. Am I qualified for a Student membership?
No. Only a full-time graduate or undergraduate student who is not currently working in the HR field can apply for a Student membership. Visit our website for membership categories http://www.ipma-hr.org/content.cfm?pageid=181.

I am a member of a local IPMA-HR Chapter. Will I have the same membership benefits as an IPMA-HR member?
No. If your chapter is affiliated with IPMA-HR, you will be receiving the following benefits: the weekly HR-Bulletin, and the IPMA-HR member rate for all professional development activities. To learn more about the IPMA-HR United Membership Initiative, please go to http://www.ipma-hr.org/content.cfm?pageid=160. Please remind your chapter representative to forward your name and contact information to IPMA-HR, so we will have your contact information.
