Module
In order to reintroduce fire into various ecosystems, the Balcones Canyonlands Prescribed Fire Module's purpose is to provide mobile and skilled assistance to Refuges in the southwest region. The primary goal of the module is to provide safe and efficient planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of prescribed burns for stations requiring prescribed burn support. The module maintains standards as a Fire Use Module to assist with Fire Use fire across the country.

The module is located at the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge in Marble Falls, Texas. The core season for the Module begins January 2 and ends in mid-June. The Module is comprised of:

 one (1) - Fire Management Officer
one (1) - Module Leader
one (1) - Assistant Module Leader
four (4) - Module Members

While the primary purpose of the module is to provide assistance for the Fish and Wildlife Service the module is able to assist other federal agencies and local agencies by agreement. The module began its work in 1997 and has assisted with prescribed fire throughout the country. Accomplishment data is listed below.
