Environmental Awards: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mail in my nomination?

No, nominations can only be submitted online.

Can I or my organization self-nominate?

Yes.

Can I nominate more than one individual, organization, business, etc.?

Yes.

Is there any flexibility on the nomination deadline?

No.  Nominations must be submitted by midnight PST on February 8.

Does my nomination have to meet ALL of the criteria listed on the Awards Web site?

No, however the EPA does take into account the listed criteria when selecting Environmental Award winners.

How many nominations does the EPA usually receive?

The EPA receives approximately 150 – 175 nominations each year.

How many winners are selected?

There is not a set number of winners selected.  The EPA selects winners based on merit.  The EPA awards approximately 25-30 winners each year.

How will winners be notified?

Winners are notified via phone and letter, and posted on this Web site (access to the password-protected page will be sent to all nominators.)

Where will the Awards ceremony be held?

The EPA will host the Awards ceremony in San Francisco in mid-April.
