Science Symposia to Reassess the Science of Hypoxia
The following four symposia were conducted as part of the Reassessment with the purpose of assessing the current state of the science of hypoxia. An additional workshop on the science of nutrients in the Mississippi River Basin contributed to the reassessment.

The 2001 Action Plan describes a national strategy to reduce the frequency, duration, size, and degree of oxygen depletion of the hypoxic zone of the northern Gulf of Mexico. The plan was submitted as a Report to Congress on January 18, 2001.
