Secretarial Election: May 26, 2009
ABSENTEE BALLOT ONLY

BACKGROUND: On March 27, 2009, members of the Delaware Tribe of Indians (Tribe) were notified of a Secretarial Election to be held on May 26, 2009, for the purpose of voting to ratify or reject the Tribe’s 1982 Constitution, as amended through November 1, 2008, subject to the October 24, 2008 Memorandum of Agreement between the Delaware Tribe of Indians and the Cherokee Nation. The election is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in accordance with Part 81 of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations (25 CFR Part 81.) This election is not a Tribal election and is not being conducted under Tribal election procedures.
