  • IRS: Issued Tax Tips on Sales Tax Deduction for Certain Vehicles (Section 1008)
  • IRS: Posted on irs.gov a fourth set of Frequently Asked Questions
  • IRS: On May 1st IRS began accepting and processing new Form 8038-CP for the Build America Bonds tax credit
  • FMS: Processed 24,260,191 payments with a May 7 payment date to Social Security recipients totalling $6,065,047,750
  • FMS: Offset 353,309 of the $250 Recovery Act payments to collect delinquent debts owed to state or federal government agencies, including delinquent child support debts. Cumulative number of offsets and amount collected totals 355,626 and $84,641,007 respectively.
  • TIGTA: Prepared Briefing Paper to the Inspector General Regarding IRS' Collection of Information on Tax Benefits
 Major Planned Actions:
  • FMS: Courtesy email notification to various House and Senate Committees that the first Recovery Act $250 one-time payments will be received by beneficiaries on May 7.
  • FISCAL: Treasury and HUD joint presentation (webcast) on May 6 Recovery Act assistance for Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects to state housing finance agencies.
