Associate Director for Policy
Sharon Coleman
Ms. Coleman has served as the Associate Director for Policy in NCPHI since July 2007. Previously she served as the Senior Policy Analyst in NCPHI. She provides leadership and guidance to the Center on policy development, performance and budget integration activities, and legislative issues.
Ms. Coleman has served in various policy positions during her ten years with CDC, including positions such as: Public Health Analyst in the National Center for Health Marketing, Acting Associate Director for Policy in the former Public Health Practice Program Office, Program Analyst in the Financial Management Office-Congressional/Legislative Branch, and Program Analyst in the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
Ms. Coleman’s policy experience includes tracking and analyzing legislation; responding to congressional requests regarding programmatic activities, budget, and progress towards performance and strategic goals. Ms. Coleman has extensive experience with budget justifications, implementation of the Government Performance and Results Act, and the Program Assessment Rating Tool.
Prior to joining CDC, Ms. Coleman acquired a broad perspective of environmental and public health from various positions with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). At EPA, she held positions as a Senior Program Analyst and as a Civil Investigator in the Atlanta, GA, and Washington, DC, office. Ms. Coleman has also worked with the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer.
Ms. Coleman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama.
