The Sea-floor Mapping Group at the USGS Woods Hole Science Center has collected high-resolution, single-channel seismic data in digital format since 1991. Data storage in standard SEG-Y digital format allows for post-acquisition processing. Data are initially processed and archived in field-based processing labs. After the field operation is completed, higher-level processing is performed, if required, in the Woods Hole Science Center’s geophysics lab. Detailed interpretations and displays of the processed data are then carried out. Please navigate to the Seismic Interpretation page on the tree to the right for further discussion of the interpretation and display processes.
