The mission of the FBI Academy, Law Enforcement Communication Unit is to deliver superior training and information in the field of communications to the intelligence and law enforcement communities. Unit instructors conduct a wide variety of training, including classes in interview/interrogation, informant development, public speaking, media relations, and effective writing. The Unit also provides contemporary and practical information on a broad range of law enforcement issues through the innovative use of the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, the most widely read law enforcement publication in the world. The Law Enforcement Communication Unit offers a full-time, twelve-week internship program. This is a VOLUNTEER Internship Program that brings students to work at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Program Overview

The Law Enforcement Communication Unit Internship Program offers students an opportunity to apply their knowledge and experiences to the various missions of the unit. Internship duties will vary in accordance with the needs of the unit and the skills, interests, and abilities of the applicant. Typical internship duties include: assisting the staff of the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin in editing and preparing articles submitted by law enforcement professionals for publication; researching literature and preparing summaries of pertinent articles; assisting in the analysis and reporting of data collected in various research projects; developing and collating information for writing/editing assignments; and assisting instructional staff in lesson plans, student practical exercises, and role playing exercises.

Preferred majors include Criminal Justice, English, Communications, or related areas of study. Other majors may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Experience working with computers (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, etc.) is also desirable.

Work hours are from 8:00am � 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Program Status

The completed Law Enforcement Communication Unit Internship application package must be received on or before the deadlines noted above. No electronic applications are accepted. Please be aware that the FBI�s mail screening processes can delay the delivery to a specific office. It is strongly recommended that you use Federal Express or a similar express delivery service, particularly if you are sending the application within two weeks of the deadline.
