Radar Hourly RASS Files Produced By POP [v4.1]

FILE NAMING CONVENTION:

SSSYYJJJ.HHt

where
       SSS = SiteID
       YY  = Year
       JJJ = Julian Day
       HH  = Hour

Date and time are in UTC and represent the start time of the average.

DATA DESCRIPTION:

Line  1:  BLANK LINE

Line  2:  " SSS" "additional info. (optional)"  where SSS = 3 letter station ID

Line  3:  " RASS    rev 4.1"  (rev number will change if file format changes)

Line  4:  [for station] latitude (N); longitude (W); elevation (m)

Line  5:  date; begin time of consensus; UT offset (minutes) 
             [format "  yy mm dd hh mm ss ut_offset"]

Line  6:  consensus averaging time (minutes); number of beams; number of range gates

Line  7:  [format "num:tot (window) "]
             number of records required to make consensus (num)
             total number of records (tot)
             the consensus window size (m/s) 

Line  8:  number of coherant integrations
          number of spectral averages
          pulse width (ns)
          inner pulse period (ms)

Line  9:  full-scale Doppler value (m/s)
          delay to first gate (ns)
          number of gates
          spacing of gates

Line 10:  azimuth; elevation (degrees)
             (if elevation > 90 then it is in degrees*100)

Line 11:  Labels for columns of data that follow

Line 12:  Start of data 
          [A LINE FOR EACH RANGE GATE, INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING]
             Height above ground (km)
             Uncorrected RASS temperature consensus (deg C)
             Corrected RASS temperature consensus
             Vertical wind consensus (w-component, positive upward, m/s)
             Number of records that made consensus (for the 3 values in same order)
             Average SNR (dB) of records in consensus (in same order)
