Reconstruction
———————————————— |
Data from the excavation were used
to partially reconstruct the post to its
1850-51 appearance. Excavated and reconstructed
structures include the Bourgeois House,
Main Gate, the North Gate, stone bastions,
and the last of three superimposed Indians
and Artisans Houses.

Other excavated structures include
the Dairy, elements of the 1828
palisade, and a host of secondary features
such as fences, walkways, a lumber mill,
secondary stockade, minor storage buildings,
privy pits, and a well. Investigations immediately
outside the post perimeter and in a large
"construction access corridor"
north of the fort demonstrated that hundreds
of fort-era features exist a considerable
distance outside the palisade. NEXT
