0.3 to 0.8 metres tall with triangular 3-sided unbranched smooth
stems; grass-like leaves; yellowish-brown flowers with long
leaf-like bracts under umbrella-like flower clusters; smooth,
round, whitish almond-flavoured tubers produced at ends of many
rhizomes
