metres; leaves clasp the stem with ear-like lobes; white,
four-parted flowers; green, rounded seed pods, surrounded by a
broad winged border, become yellow to greenish-orange at maturity
- young plants when crushed give off a rank, offensive odour; can
taint milk and meat of grazing animals
