Sustainable Agriculture

"Sustainable" according to the dictionary means it will last indefinitely. Sustainable agriculture is just that. It uses farming practices and management techniques that protect and improve the environment while allowing the farm business to prosper. Agriculture depends on both the health of the environment and the financial health of farms.

Sustainable agriculture- that is an agricultural system that is profitable, environmentally sensitive, and socially acceptable - is a fundamental issue in all our course work.

Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) is a USDA competitive grants program that provides information to improve profitability, stewardship and quality of life. Information that highlights projects in Tennessee are highlighted in the Sustainable Agriculture In Tennessee website.
