How to Become a Retailer
If you have been in business for at least six (6) months at your present retail location and are requesting to have the Lottery machine installed, contact the Lottery District Office for your county. A Lottery Sales Representative will contact you for an interview and completion of a market evaluation which you must pass, prior to filling out the application form. Criminal history background checks will be conducted on all owners and each employee listed on the application. You will be charged a fee for this (currently $18.00 ea.). A financial background check is also conducted on the owners of the business. You will be instructed to open a separate account at your bank for Lottery funds. This is to be an Electronic Fund Transfer account. You should be notified within 4 to 6 weeks after completion of your application as to the status of your request. When you are accepted to be a Lottery Retailer, you will be charged an annual licensing fee of $100.00 and you will incur a one time telephone company charge for the special line installed at your location to operate the Lottery machine. Currently, this one time charge is approximately $700.00. All monthly phone line charges in conjunction with the Lottery machine are paid by the Lottery. You will be required to attend training on the operation of the Lottery machine and Lottery laws and procedures at G-Tech headquarters in Lawrenceville. This training takes approximately 4 hours and attendance is mandatory to become a Lottery Retailer.
