About Our School
The Fort Rucker Elementary and Primary Schools are Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DoD DDESS). In the Fall of 2002, the Fort Rucker schools were consolidated with Fort Benning schools, under the leadership of Dr. Dell McMullen. In 2003, Fort Rucker became a part of the Georgia/Alabama District, which encompasses Fort Rucker, Fort Benning, Maxwell Air Force Base, and Robins Air Force Base. The Fort Rucker Elementary School, which houses grades two through six and the administrative offices of the Superintendent, was constructed in 1963. The Primary School was constructed in 1973 and encompasses pre-school through first grade (students who meet eligibility requirements). The schools are administered and funded by the Department of Defense. An elected School Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent. School Board meetings are open to all. A notice to parents will be sent home with students the day before the meeting; the date will also be posted on this web site. |
