Family Practice Residency Program Information

TCOM offers an American Osteopathic Association -approved residency program for training qualified osteopathic physicians in family practice. The TCOM program is associated with several affiliated hospitals.

Certification in family practice requires a three-year program that includes a special-emphasis track as the first year of the residency. Residents are based at a busy model family practice clinic and a full-service regional referral hospital. The curriculum is strong in family-oriented ambulatory and inpatient care, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency medicine, behavioral science, patient education and geriatrics. Residents are taught by a core of excellent and enthusiastic faculty who are active in patient care and teaching. Structured teaching services provide a blend of didactic and hands-on experiences.

The program provides the educational requirements to qualify residents for membership in the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and for eventual examination by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians pursuant to certification in family practice.
