NDIC Major Information System
NDIC's mission is to produce strategic intelligence for the counterdrug
community, focusing on drugs, gangs and violence. NDIC uses open-source
information along with material from federal, state and local law
enforcement entities. This information is coupled with related foreign
assessments from the Intelligence Community in order to accurately
reflect the global threat posed by drug trafficking.
Making a FOIA Request
This reference guide serves as a handbook
with specific instructions for making a FOIA/PA request within the
Department.

FOIA requests are placed in one of three tracks. Track one is
for those requests that seek and receive expedited processing pursuant
to subsection (a)(6)(E) of the FOIA. The second track is for those
requests that do not involve voluminous records or lengthy consultations
with other entities. Track three is for those requests that involve
voluminous records and for which lengthy or numerous consultations
are required, or those requests which may involve sensitive records.
The Electronic Reading Room is organized to provide the public easy access to information.
The web site will include and continuously accumulate NDIC records
created on or after November 1, 1996, in electronic form or format,
and materials identified by 5 USC 552 (a)(2).
