TDI RSS Feeds

TDI RSS Feeds are designed to be used with a news aggregator program or desktop web page, such as Google's desktop. The "feeds" essentially serve as a free, automatic news gatherer. RSS (which stands for Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication, depending on who you ask) allows you to see when our website has added new content. You don't even have to remember to visit our website every day. With an RSS aggregator or an RSS feed desktop, you can subscribe to the feed you want, check for new content at intervals you select and retrieve (pull) the content to you. Nothing is emailed (pushed) to you.

Not all websites provide RSS feeds, but the number is growing. And with Microsoft providing special RSS functions in its new Vista operating system, RSS is likely to become a standard desktop feature.

Aggregators also are being built into portal sites such as My Yahoo!, MyAOL, Google HomePage and Google Reader; Web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer Version 7; e-mail programs like Mozilla Thunderbird; and other applications, including Apple's iTunes, which serves as a podcast aggregator.

How to Use Our RSS Feeds *

To view one of our feeds in your RSS Reader/Aggregator:

  1. Copy the Link/URL that corresponds to the feed you want.
  2. Paste the URL into your RSS aggregator or news reader and save it.

To view one of our feeds on a subscription service:

  1. On MyAOL, use the "Add a Feed" button.
  2. On My MSN, look for the "Add Content" link.
  3. On MyYahoo! use the "Add Content" tools and look for "Add RSS by URL" link.
  4. On Google HomePage or Google Reader, look for the "Add by URL" link.

You can also use the "Subscription Service" links in the table above. They are configured to automatically add our RSS feed to your MyAOL, My MSN, MyYahoo! or Google desktop/reader.

 Tools for Viewing RSS Feeds

  • Standalone Desktop Aggregators: Client applications you must download to your computer and run independently. They include such programs as Newz Crawler, FeedDemon, Awasu and RSS Bandit for Windows and Newsfire and NetNewsWire for Mac OS X.
  • E-mail Clients: Plug-in to popular e-mail clients let you receive RSS feeds in your e-mail window.
  • RSS Subscription Services: MyYahoo, MyAOL, Google Reader and other websites offer an easy way to subscribe to RSS feeds as part of their "membership" benefits. In most cases, the RSS feed is added to your home page in the form of "headline" links.
  • Web Browsers: Newer browsers have add-ons that allow you to view RSS feeds easily.
  • Mobile Devices: Subscription mobile services can deliver RSS feeds to your wireless mobile devices. This option is particularly useful for anyone whose job keeps them on the go. Some RSS subscription services also allow you to add RSS feeds to your mobile devices.
