1. What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan, or ILL, is a service which provides access to the collections of libraries throughout the world for research purposes.  If UNT does not own a book or journal article you need, you may request it though Interlibrary Loan.

2. How do I make an Interlibrary Loan request?

To make an Interlibrary Loan request, you must first register for an ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Account.  After you register, you may begin submitting requests.

3. What is ILLiad?

ILLiad is an electronic service that you use to submit Interlibrary Loan requests.  You may request books, microforms, articles and other items from institutions other than the UNT Libraries.  ILLiad is available to all UNT faculty, students and staff.  To use this service you must register for an account

4. What can I do if I forgot my ILLiad password?

If you have forgotten your ILLiad password, please contact the Interlibrary Loan Department at 940/565-2495 or email iii@library.edu  We can reset your password.

5. What if the UNT Libraries do not have a book I need?

If the UNT Libraries do not own a book you need, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan.

If the UNT Libraries do not have an article you need, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan.

7. How can I get a thesis/dissertation from another university?

Theses and dissertations from other universities may be requested through Interlibrary Loan.

8. How long can I check out an Interlibrary Loan book?

Checkout periods are determined by the lending library but are usually two weeks.  Interlibrary Loan books must be returned by the due date or you may be blocked from Library services.

9. How do I renew my ILL book?

You may request a renewal of your Interlibrary Loan book through your ILLiad account of by contacting the Interlibrary Loan Department.  Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library.  Renewals will not be requested for overdue books.

10. Where do I pick up by ILL book?

Interlibrary Loan books may be picked up at the Interlibrary Loan Desk, First Floor, Willis Library.  If the ILL Desk is not staffed, please ask the Circulation staff to retrieve your book.  You may also arrange to pick up books at the Discovery Park Library Collection Room M130 or at the UNT Dallas Campus Library.
