When are the UNT Parking rules and regulations enforced?

Student parking spaces are enforced when classes are in session.

Faculty/Staff parking spaces are enforced when the university is open.

Meters are enforced 7:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Thursday, and 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, except university holidays, or as otherwise posted.

Yellow curbs, handicap spaces, fire zones, loading zones, and Service Spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Spaces with marked time limits are enforced from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday except university holidays, or as otherwise posted.

Where do we park to run into the Union for a few minutes?

We allow up to 30 minutes of FREE parking in the parking garage for those that have their parking garage ticket validated at the Union Information booth on the 3rd floor. With the exception of certain times during the first week of classes when the garage reaches capacity, there should be adequate space available to allow vehicles to use the FREE 30-minute parking.

Is UNT going to build a parking garage soon?

We are currently evaluating the possibility of building a 1000 - 1400 space parking garage to be located between Welch Street and Avenue A, South of Highland Street.

Commuter students may also use the reduced-rate "General" lot at the Bradley Street Apartments, as well as, the reduced-rate "General" contract lot at the Village Church of Denton and the “General” parking Lot 41 South of Maple Street. They may also purchase a "Premium" parking permit to use the Welch Street lots.

Is a parking permit required at Discovery Park?

A valid UNT parking permit is required in all lots at the UNT Discovery Park. Lot designations are indicated by current parking signage. Parking meters are available in Lot #2 at Discovery Park if you do not have a valid UNT parking permit. We have expanded parking in Discovery Park lots 3 & 4 to any valid permit. A $36.00 per year parking permit is available for these lots as well. Contact the Parking Office for more information at (940) 565-3020.

What do I do for a citation I received that I think is unfair?

Broken meters should be reported to the Parking Office within 24 hours. Citations may be appealed through the Parking Office within 10 (ten) calendar days of issuance.

How do I get a Handicapped Permit?

What if I have sold my vehicle?

If you have sold you vehicle and it do not want it associated with your parking acount, TXDoT must be notified of the sale and change of ownership. This can be done online at https://vision21.txdot.gov/Vehicle/MainTransferNotification.aspx
