Hello,

I would recommend the following:

Glanz, K., Rimer, B.K., & Lewis, F.M. (Eds.). (2002). Health behavior and
health education. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass.

Maiback, E. & Parrott, R.L. (Eds.). (1995). Designing health messages:
Approaches from communication theory and public health practice. Thousand
Oaks: Sage.

Good luck!

Subject
[HealthLiteracy 1944] Undergrads & determinants of health

Hello

Next Fall, I am teaching an undergraduate course that focuses on the
meaning, measurement and determinants of health. Last time, the
course had 35 students from 8-10 disciplines, years 1-5, and ages
16-58. We are teaching a new section limited to 1st and 2nd year
students from multiple departments and faculties. Class activities
include lectures, videos, community guests, fun, community-service
learning projects, and a final exam.

Does anyone know of any books or textbooks that deal with population
health, health promotion, determinants of health and would be
suitable for 1st-year students. (Suggestions for other relevant
age-appropriate resources would also be appreciated)

Thanks Jim
