CDC Addresses Heart Disease
CDC's public health efforts to address heart disease include these and other programs.
State Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program
CDC currently funds health departments in 41 states and the District of Columbia to develop effective strategies to reduce the burden of heart disease and stroke and their risk factors. The program stresses the need for policy and systems changes that promote heart–healthy and stroke–free living and working conditions. For more information, see CDC's State Program Web pages.
A Public Health Action Plan to Prevent Heart Disease and Stroke
The purpose of the Action Plan is to chart a course to help achieve national goals to prevent heart disease and stroke. The National Forum for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention has been established to address and carry out targeted recommendations and specific action steps. For more information, see CDC's Public Health Action Plan Web pages.
