BLM Colorado district positions recreate management structure

All three BLM Colorado district posts are filled as part of a national effort to implement a more consistent organizational structure based on field offices, district offices and state offices.

The Colorado reorganization will officially take effect in October, with BLM Colorado welcoming a Northwest, Front Range and Southwest district offices.

Jamie Connell was named district manager in December and will oversee the Northwest District. Connell was formally the Glenwood Springs Field Manager, and also served as the Acting Associate State Director for BLM in Wyoming. The Northwest Colorado District will be based in Grand Junction and includes the BLM Grand Junction, Glenwood Springs, White River (Meeker), Little Snake (Craig) and Kremmling field offices.

Greg Shoop was named district manager in April and will oversee the Front Range District. Shoop has worked as a senior mineral leasing specialist in the BLM's national office in Washington, DC.  The Front Range District Office will be based in Canon City and includes the Royal Gorge Field Office and BLM offices in the San Luis Valley.

Lori Armstrong was named district manager in May and will oversee the Southwest District. Armstrong has 17 years experience with the BLM and previously served as the Shoshone Field Manager in Idaho. The Colorado Southwest District will be based in Montrose and includes the Uncompahgre and Gunnison field offices, as well as the San Juan Public Lands Center.

BLM Colorado announces new position to coordinate stimulus funding
BLM Colorado named Stuart Cox as the statewide coordinator for stimulus funding activities under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which will invest more than $20.7 million in BLM Colorado public lands. (Read more. . .)
