Brno: International Clinical Research Center (ICRC)

The ICRC is a joint project of the Mayo Clinic and St. Ann Faculty Hospital in Brno. The ICRC Brno focuses on medical research and education, particularly in the areas of cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases, internal medicine, neurology and oncology. The center creates a platform for an entirely new type of international scientific partnerships. As such it offers great opportunities for Czech-US cooperation.

The idea of ICRC Brno originated in 2001/2002 based on successful cooperation on joint projects with Mayo Clinic. In 2006 Czech government supported the establishment of International Clinical Research Center (ICRC) at St. Ann Faculty Hospital in Brno and approved investment of $120 million (CZK1.8 billion) into the project. The same year, Mayo Clinic signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Czech Ministry of Health and St. Ann Faculty Hospital. More information about the project is available here.
